چکیده

This paper investigates the linearization, using perturbation methods, of the structural deformations in the nonlinear flight dynamic response of aircraft with slender, flexible wings. The starting point is the coupling of a displacement-based geometrically nonlinear flexible-body dynamics formulation with a 3D unsteady vortex lattice method. This is followed by a linearization of the structural degrees of freedom, which are assumed to be small in a body-fixed reference frame. The translations and rotations of that reference frame and their time derivatives, which describe the vehicle flight dynamics, can still be arbitrarily large. The resulting system preserves all couplings between rigid and elastic motions and can be projected onto a few vibration modes of the unconstrained aircraft with geometrically ∗Graduate Student, Department of Aeronautics, AIAA Student Member. †Senior Lecturer, Department of Aeronautics (Contact author: [email protected]), AIAA Member. ‡Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering Sciences, AIAA Member.

Integrated Flight Dynamic Modeling of Flexible Aircraft with Inertial Force-Propulsion-Aeroelastic Coupling

This paper presents an integrated flight dynamic modeling method for flexible aircraft that captures coupled physics effects due to inertial forces, aeroelasticity, and propulsive forces that are normally present in flight. The present approach formulates the coupled flight dynamics using a structural dynamic modeling method that describes the elasticity of a flexible, twisted, swept wing using...

Manipulation Control of a Flexible Space Free Flying Robot Using Fuzzy Tuning Approach

Cooperative object manipulation control of rigid-flexible multi-body systems in space is studied in this paper. During such tasks, flexible members like solar panels may get vibrated that in turn may lead to some oscillatory disturbing forces on other subsystems, and consequently produces error in the motion of the end-effectors of the cooperative manipulating arms. Therefore, to design and dev...

Modified Linear Approximation for Assessment of Rigid Block Dynamics

This study proposes a new linear approximation for solving the dynamic response equations of a rocking rigid block. Linearization assumptions which have already been used by Hounser and other researchers cannot be valid for all rocking blocks with various slenderness ratios and dimensions; hence, developing new methods which can result in better approximation of governing equations while keepin...

COMPARISON BETWEEN MINIMUM AND NEAR MINIMUM TIME OPTIMAL CONTROL OF A FLEXIBLE SLEWING SPACECRAFT

In this paper, a minimum and near-minimum time optimal control laws are developed and compared for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The control commands are considered as typical bang-bang with multiple symmetrical switches, the time optimal control solution for the rigid-body mode is obtained as a bang-bang function and app...

Multi-Flexible-Body Analysis for Application to Wind-Turbine Control Design

A methodology is presented for the modeling of flexible horizontal-axis, wind-turbine systems. The multi-rigid-body portions of the system are modeled as a system of interconnected rigid bodies using Autolev, a symbolic manipulator ideally suited for dynamics of multi-rigid-body systems. The flexible portions of the wind-turbine system are represented as beam finite elements. Equations are pres...
